Baseball Pitcher Mike Gosling To Chat Live Thursday
May 9, 2001
STANFORD, CA - Stanford junior left-handed pitcher Mike Gosling will make a special visit to the gostanford.com chat room this Thursday, May 10 (10:00 a.m., PDT). Gosling will chat with fans about the No. 7 ranked Stanford Baseball team and the Cardinal's upcoming final regular season Pac-10 home series versus Arizona this Friday-Sunday, May 11-13 (6 pm, 1 pm, 1 pm). Stanford (36-13, 12-6 Pac-10) currently sits in second place in the Pac-10, just one game behind conference leader USC (33-16, 13-5 Pac-10). Stanford is attempting to extend its school record string of Pac-10 titles to five in a row (includes Southern Division titles and co-championships). Stanford and Arizona will be meeting for the first time this season. The Cardinal won two-of-three games between the clubs in 2000 during a series played at Sunken Diamond. Gosling picked up the victory in the final game of last year's series with a dominating performance, striking out 12 batters and allowing only two hits in 8.1 innings of a 7-1 Cardinal victory. Stanford leads the all-time series, 86-48.
This year, Gosling has been the team's hottest pitcher in conference play with five consecutive Pac-10 victories (includes a no-decision in a relief appearance at Arizona State). Gosling has won four straight Pac-10 starts and tossed his first career shutout in a four-hit complete game 8-0 win over California (4/29) in his most recent Pac-10 appearance. He also pitched his first career complete game one week earlier at USC (4/22) in a 9-5 Stanford victory. Overall, Gosling is 5-0 with a 3.33 ERA. He has 48 strikeouts in 48.2 innings. Gosling earned second team preseason All-American honors (Baseball America) prior to the 2001 campaign and ranks second on Stanford's all-time strikeout per nine innings list (10.41).
If you would like to ask your question for Gosling ahead of time, feel free to leave your questions now and we will save them for his arrival. Otherwise, he will chat with you on Thursday.
