Browner To Represent Women's Golf At NCAA West Regional
May 9, 2001
PULLMAN, Wash. --- When Washington State junior Tasha Browner tees it up at the NCAA West Regional in Corvallis, Ore., on Thursday, she will be exploring new territory for Cougar golf.
Browner will be making her second-straight postseason appearance, something that no other WSU golfer has ever done.
The Tarzana, Calif., native finished 113th out of 126 players at last year's West Regional. In 2000, she accompanied the rest of her teammates to the event in Tempe, Ariz., but this year, Browner qualified as an individual. She is the first women's player to be selected as an individual since Eryn Remington in 1994.
The field will feature 21 teams, including eight from the Pac-10. Portland State's Taya Battistella is the only other individual to be selected. The top eight teams and the two highest-finishing individuals will advance to the NCAA Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
Results will be posted on www.wsucougars.com following each day of competition.
