Paige Bowie Earns Academic All-District Honors

BERKELEY - Senior shortstop Paige Bowie has been voted to the Verizon Academic All-District softball team for the second time in the last three years.
A business administration major at Cal, Bowie has a 3.73 GPA. For the Bears this season, she is batting .286 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 21 RBI.
The Verizon award is one of many academic awards Bowie has received during her Cal career. A two-time Pac-10 All-Academic selection in softball, she was also a three-time conference academic selection in basketball.
The 12 members of the Verizon district softball team, which includes schools in California, Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada and Utah, will now be on the national ballot and are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
The Cal softball team continues its season this week at an NCAA regional in Tallahassee, Fla. The Bears, who are seeded second in the six-team regional, open play Thursday vs. Connecticut.
