Alex Kim Honored By The ITA

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association honored Stanford senior Alex Kim (Potomac, Md/Winston Churchill HS). The defending NCAA Singles Champion was named the TENNIS Magazine/Arthur Ashe, Jr., Leadership and Sportsmanship West Region winner, the ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship West Region nominee, and the ITA/John Van Nostran Memorial West Region nominee.
The TENNIS Magazine/Arthur Ashe, Jr., Leadership and Sportsmanship Award is given to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements. The Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award will be awarded to a player who displays sportsmanship, character, excellent academics and has had outstanding tennis accomplishments. The Van Nostran Award is a stipend given to an outstanding senior player who is planning to pursue a professional tennis career.
National winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 23 at the University of Georgia. The defending NCAA Champion Cardinal opens play in Athens on Saturday, May 19 against 20th-ranked Pepperdine University (19-7) in the round of 16.
