Baseball Set To Host NCAA First-Round Regional

LOS ANGELES -- USC will host the NCAA First-Round Regional at Dedeaux Field on Friday (May 25) through Sunday (May 27). Sixteen sites were selected to host the first round of the NCAA Tournament that will feature 64 teams. The winner of the regional will move on to the NCAA Super Regionals where eight teams will qualify for the 2001 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska (June 8-16).
The Trojans last hosted the NCAA First-Round Regional in 1999, defeating Pepperdine in the championship game before losing at Stanford in the Super Regional.
All-tournament passes may be purchased by calling the USC ticket office at (213) 740-GOSC. Passes are $50 for adults and $30 for children under 12. The passes will cover all six (or seven) games for the regional. Single-session tickets will be available only on the day of the game with the box office opening one and a half hours prior to the first game of the day. Parking on the USC campus will be $5 for each day.
The teams that will compete in the double-elimination regional will be announced on Monday (May 21) live on ESPN at noon (Pacific time).
