Student-Athletes of the Week Announced

Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University student-athletes Chris Biles, Crystal Draper, Steven Hyde, and Megan Oest, have been recognized for their achievements on the field and in the classroom for the week of May 7-13.
Biles is a sophomore leftfielder on the baseball team. The Tigard native batted .700 (7-10), with one double, and five RBI in last week's three-game series at UCLA. Biles and his teammates will be action this week in the regular season three-game series finale against No. 2 USC at Goss Stadium beginning Friday.
Draper is a junior softball pitcher from Parkdale, Ore. She was named the Pac-10 Conference Pitcher of the Week after hurling two complete game shutouts in victories over No. 4 Stanford and No. 6 California. In the two games, she struck out nine and allowed just six hits as she upped her record to 28-10 for the season. Draper leads the Beavers into NCAA Regional competition this week at the University of Alabama.
Academic recognition was given to Steven Hyde of the men's crew team, and Megan Oest of the women's crew team. Hyde is a sophomore from Sisters, Ore., with a 3.91 cumulative GPA in pre-mechanical engineering. Oest is a senior from Lake Oswego with a 3.62 GPA in engineering.
