Two Opening Round Matches In NCAA Men's Tennis Championships Postponed

ATHENS, Ga.----Two first round matches in the 2001 NCAA Men's TennisChampionships scheduled for Saturday have been postponed until Sundaydue to weather delays during opening round play.
UCLA will face Washington and SMU will play Mississippi State on Sundayat 1 p.m. Quarterfinal matches, originally scheduled for Sunday, willnow be played on Monday at 12 noon and 4 p.m. Semifinals are scheduledfor Tuesday at 12 noon and 4 p.m. with the finals now scheduled forWednesday at 4 p.m.
The individual singles and doubles tournament will now begin on Thursdayrather than Wednesday. The singles and doubles championships finals willstill be played on Monday, May 28, as originally scheduled.
The decision to postpone play was made by the NCAA Men's TennisCommittee in the best interest of the student-athletes' welfare.
The new day-by-day schedule is as follows:
Sunday, May 20, 2001 1 p.m. --- UCLA vs. Washington
SMU vs. Mississippi State
Monday, May 21, 2001 noon and 4 p.m. Quarterfinal matches
Tuesday, May 22, 2001 noon and 4 p.m. Semifinal matches
Wednesday, May 23, 2001 4 p.m. Team Final
