Brian David Teacher Elected To ITA Hall Of Fame

Athens, GA -- Former four-time All-American (1973-76) men's tennis player Brian David Teacher was elected into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Hall of Fame in Athens, Georgia this afternoon in a special ceremony between the doubles and singles portion of this afternoon's 2001 NCAA Team Championship final. The inductees will be formally introduced at the induction banquet, which is scheduled for this evening at the Athens Holiday Inn.
Teacher was inducted with four players, Watson M. Washburn (Harvard), Ramsey Eanhart (USC), Fred McNair lV (North Carolina) and Brad Girlbert (Pepperdine). Three coaches were also inducted and include Mercer Beasley (Tulane/Princeton), Tom Chivington (Foothill College) and Dave Snyder (Arizona/Texas).
Teacher teamed with current UCLA men's tennis coach Billy Martin as a finalist in doubles at the 1975 NCAA Championships and was also a member of the UCLA NCAA championship teams in 1975-76. He also claimed the boys' 18 singles and doubles crowns in 1972 and won the Australian Open singles championships in 1980. Teacher was twice ranked in the United States Top 10 singles (4th in 1981 and 8th in 1982).
