Moore and Park Suffer Losses In First Round

ATHENS, Ga. - Juniors Ryan Moore and Andrew Park suffered a quick end to their NCAA Individual Championship run with losses in the opening round of the singles tournament at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Thursday, May 24.

With an unlucky draw, Moore fell to No. 1-seed Marco Baron of Mississippi State 6-2, 6-3 in the first round. After capturing the 2001 Pac-10 Singles Championship, he completes his season with a 21-11 overall singles record.

A 9-16 seed, Park also ended his season with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 loss to Lesley Joseph of Georgia on Friday afternoon. Park compiled a 29-9 singles record in 2001 and garnered two titles at the SoCal Intercollegiate Championship and the Rolex Region VII Championship.

USC's NCAA title hopes are still alive as the Men's Doubles Tournament begins Friday, May 25. As the 5-8 seed, Moore and Nick Rainey will face Oskar Johansson and Henrik Tofft of Arkansas in the first round.
