Cardinal Men's Varsity Eight Qualifies For Petite Final At IRA National Championship Regatta

In one of the toughest semifinal heats in recent history, the un-ranked Stanford varsity eight finished behind No. 2 Princeton, No. 4 Northeastern, No. 6 Washington and No. 7 Penn and No. 9 Wisconsin in racing at the IRA National Championship on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, NJ, June 1.
After a strong first 500 the outmatched Cardinal fell off the pace and were unable to challenge for a qualifying berth in the grand final of the varsity challenge cup. Stanford will race in the petite final on Saturday for the No 6 through No. 12 national ranking.
Stanford's men's open four qualified for the grand final in Thursday's heat and will race for a Top Six finish on Saturday.
