Men's Golf Moves Up Three Spots to Eighth Before Rain Halts Third Round at NCAA Championships

DURHAM, N.C. - The Arizona State men's golf team had climbed three spots into a tie for eight place before heavy rain and lightning halted the third round of the 2001 NCAA Championships being held May 30-June 2 at par 72, 7,086-yard Duke University Golf Course.
After a two-hour delay, the NCAA Men's Golf Committee halted play for the day at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. The third round will be resumed at 7:30 a.m. (4:30 a.m. Arizona Time) Saturday morning, and the final round will begin at 9 a.m. using the same pairings as the third round.
Arizona continues to lead the field at 14-under par, while Florida (-8) and Clemson (-1) are second and third, respectively. Arizona's Ricky Barnes also continues to hold onto the individual lead at 11-under par with an even round through eight holes on Friday.
Before inclement weather halted play, the Sun Devils were three-under par as a team and had moved into a tie for eighth place with Georgia Tech at seven-over for the tournament. Senior Jin Park was having the best day for the Sun Devils before play was suspended at three-under par through 11 holes to move into a tie for 34th at two-over par for the tournament. Park had birdied his last two holes before play was suspended.
Freshman Chez Reavie is tied for fourth with an even round through 10 holes at six-under par for the tournament, while junior Matt Jones had moved into a tie for 42nd at four-over total with a two-under par round through 12 holes on Friday. Senior Jeff Quinney is tied for 58th at eight-over par for the tournament with a two-over round through 11 holes, and freshman Brian Nosler was six-over par through 13 holes to move into a tie for 80th at 15-over par for the tournament.
