Women's Soccer Beats UC Davis, Ties Santa Clara To Close Out Spring Season

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team ended its spring season with a 4-0-1 record after a 2-2 tie with Santa Clara and a 4-0 win over UC Davis.
Against the Broncos, the Cardinal came from behind after being down 2-0 within the first 20 minutes. Santa Clara scored back-to-back goals in the 18th and 19th minutes before Stanford got on the board. At the 25 minute mark, defender Ally Marquand scored on a 25-yard shot. Then 10 minutes later, the Cardinal tied the game 2-2. A cross from the right side was headed in by Becky Myers for the final goal of the game. Stanford had one other strong opportunity to go ahead in the 90th minute, but the Santa Clara goalkeeper came up with a big save.
Against UC Davis, the Cardinal had a 3-0 lead in the first half and added another goal in the second for a convincing 4-0 win. Marcia Wallis scored two in the first half while Robyn deHay also tallied a goal in the first half. Myers recorded a second-half goal as well.
The Cardinal opens its 2001 season on September 2, 2001 at Florida.
