June 8, 2001
Stanford, Calif. - Sprinter Sara Watchorn will join the Stanford women's swimming team in the 2001-02 season announced Stanford head women's swimming coach Richard Quick.
Watchorn, a transfer from the University of Hawaii, swam at the 2001 NCAA Championships in the 200 yard free (1:48.00), 100 yard free (49.93) and the 50 yard free (23.20). Watchhorn hails from Sandy, Utah and will enter Stanford as a junior in the fall of 2001.
'Sara is an excellent sprinter who will play an important role in the 200 yard events on down,' said Quick, 'and will play a valuable role in Stanford's relays a the NCAA's, as much as Jenny Thompson did in the `90's. It is her maturity and commitment to excellence which impressed me most.'
