Five OSU Golfers Honored

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State had five golfers honored when the Pacific-10 announced its All-Academic golf teams Tuesday. On the women's side, senior Carina Olsson (Sollentuna, Sweden/Rudbecksskolan HS) was a first-team selection and sophomore Bridget Bieth (Sacramento, Calif./Johnson West HS) was named to the second team, for the men, senior Anthony Arvidson (Beaverton, Ore./Sunset HS) and junior Todd Deacon (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro HS) were named to the second team and freshman Sean Deacon (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro HS) earned honorable mention.
To be eligible for Pac-10 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor to their team.
Olsson has a 3.90 GPA and is majoring in Electrical Engineering. She tied for 19th in the NCAA West Regional and tied for 25th in the Pacific-10 Championships.
Bieth has a 3.67 GPA and is majoring in Human Development. She finished a career-best 13th in the OSU Shanico Invitational.
Arvidson has a 3.26 GPA and is majoring in Business. He placed 51st in the NCAA Championships and earned All-America honorable mention, as well as being named a National Golf Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete.
Todd Deacon has a 3.24 GPA and is majoring in Business. His best career finish was a tie for seventh at the 2000 Pilot Invitational. Sean Deacon's best career finish was a tie for 11th at the Northwest Intercollegiate.
