Four Tennis Players Earn Academic All-Pac-10 Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Three Arizona State women's tennis players and one men's tennis player earned Academic All-Pac-10 accolades announced Tuesday by the Pacific-10 office.
To be selected to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
On the women's side, sophomore Mhairi Brown earned first team honors with a 4.00 GPA in Exercise Science. Brown also posted a 28-10 overall record and finished 17th in the nation in doubles with fellow all-academic member Celena McCoury. A senior from Canton, Ohio, McCoury claimed her second all-academic award as she earned second team honors. McCoury posted a 3.39 GPA in Psychology. Also claiming first team honors was sophomore Megan Yeats. Majoring in English, Yeats had a 3.60 GPA, while finishing No. 75 in the country.
For the men, sophomore Pim Van Mele claimed honorable mention honors with a 3.11 GPA in Exercise Science. Van Mele earned 17 singles wins this year.
