Three Women's Tennis Players Earn Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Three Stanford University women's tennis players have received 2001 Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic honors, commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Tuesday.

Junior team captain Lauren Kalvaria (Indialantic, FL/Boca Raton Prep) led the way by earning Second Team honors. Kalvaria, who was an NCAA Finalist in singles and an NCAA Semifinalist in doubles (w/Lauren Barnikow), is an Economics major with a 3.37 GPA. Kalvaria was 39-4 in singles and 41-5 in doubles as she helped the Cardinal go 30-0 and claim the NCAA Team Championship.

The Cardinal also had a pair of players earn Honorable Mention honors - senior Sarah Pestieau (New York, NY/Lycee Francais de New York) and junior Keiko Tokuda (Clifton, NJ/Clifton HS).

To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and be either a starter of significant contributor.
