Shelly Ripple Finishes Eighth In 200 Butterfly At FINA World Swimming Championships

Fukuoka, Japan - Stanford's Shelly Ripple finished eighth in the finals of the women's 200 meter butterfly on Monday at the FINA World Swimming Championships. Ripple recorded a time of 2:11.09 in the finals. Ripple, who will be a senior on the Stanford women's swimming and diving team in 2001-02, had finished seventh in the semifinals (2:10.62) and was in 10th place following Sunday's heats (2:11.76).

Ripple will also be participating in the women's 4x200 free relay and the 100 butterfly later in the meet, which runs from July 16-29.
