Women's Soccer Year in Review

July 25, 2001

WASHINGTON won its first ever Pac-10 title and became the first school from outside the state of California to claim the Conference championship.

Seven Pac-10 teams, the most ever, advanced to the NCAA Tournament: ARIZONA STATE, CALIFORNIA, STANFORD, UCLA, USC, WASHINGTON and WASHINGTON STATE. Both Washington and UCLA reached the round of 16, while the Bruins became the first Pac-10 team to reach the College Cup since Stanford in 1993. UCLA fell to North Carolina, 2-1, in the championship game.

UCLA's Tracey Milburn earned Pac-10 Player of the Year honors, while STANFORD's Marcie Ward was named Freshman of the Year. WASHINGTON's Lesle Gallimore picked up Conference Coach of the Year honors.
