CBS Will Televise Pac-10 Men's Basketball Championship Game

CBS Sports, College Basketball's leading network broadcaster, hasacquired the rights to the Pac-10's Men's College Basketball Championshipgame, through an agreement with Fox Sports Net, it was announced today byMike Aresco, Senior Vice President, Programming, CBS Sports and TracyDolgin, President, Fox Sports Net. The multi-year agreement begins withthe 2002 Pac-10 Tournament.
The Pac-10 Tournament, which previously ran from 1987-90, will becontested at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with the Championship gameto be broadcast live on Saturday, March 9 (6:00-8:00 PM, ET) on the CBSTelevision Network. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAAMen's Basketball Championship.
Fox Sports Net acquired the exclusive television rights to the entirePac-10 postseason tournament in a multi-year agreement with theConference in 2000. Each year, the first two rounds will be televised byFox Sports Net.

CBS Sports broadcasts an extensive regular-season schedule of collegebasketball, including conference championships from the Big Ten, SEC andConference USA. Exclusive broadcaster of the NCAA tournament, CBS Sportswill present coverage of the preeminent event in college sports for the21st consecutive year in 2002.
