WSU Swimmers Complete Day Two At Canadian Summer Nationals

TORONTO -- A quintet of Washington State swimmers completed day two of the Canadian Summer Nationals, Monday.

Melissa Hubley has been the most successful WSU swimmer at the meet thus far. Hubley, who will be a junior this fall, placed eighth in the 200-meter butterfly Monday with a time of 2:19.82. Hubley qualified for the finals with her Sunday preliminary time of 2:19.34.

The only other Cougar who competed Monday was Andree-Anne LeRoy. A sophomore in the fall, LeRoy finished 12th in the semifinals of the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 1:05.89. Her time of 1:05.83 in Sunday's preliminary heat earned her spot in the semifinal race.

The other three Cougars competing at the meet are Katie Byrnes and Sasha Taylor, both sophomores this fall and Lindsay Henahan, who will be a junior in 2001-02.

In Sunday's action, LeRoy (29th, 59.27), Taylor (51st, 1:01.21) and Henahan (52nd, 1:01.49) each took part in the 100-meter freestyle preliminary round.

Byrnes finished 25th in the 100-meter backstroke preliminary round with a time of 1:07.85 and Taylor placed 32nd with a 1:08.49.

The Summer Nationals continue through Thursday.
