Cougars Move Practices To Evening
Aug. 10, 2001
PULLMAN, Wash. -- - Washington State's afternoon football practices have been moved to the evening for the next several days, according to Cougar head coach Mike Price.
'Temperatures are projected to be over 90 degrees for the next few days and we believe it is better for our players if we practice in the evening,' Price said. 'When it is real hot, players do not recover as quickly and their attention level is often not as great. We have better practices and the players are more attentive and learn more when we can practice in comfortable conditions.'
Price said the team held their first evening workout Thursday. Evening workouts are also slated for Sunday and Monday.
Saturday, the Cougars will hold practices at 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., while Sunday's scrimmage has been moved to 7:00 p.m. Sunday is the first day WSU players can practice in full uniform and participate in full contact drills. Price said Sunday evening's workout will only last an hour. Monday the team will hold two practices, 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
