ASU Volleyball To Promote 2001 Season At Tuesday's Phoenix Mercury Game

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Four members of Arizona State University's volleyball team will be attending the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury's 2001 regular season finale when they challenge the defending WNBA champion Houston Comets on Tuesday (August 14) at 7 p.m. at America West Arena. Co-captains Jami Coughlin and Julia Leddy, as well as sophomore Natalie Harris and freshman Alicia Akporiaye will be on hand to pass out schedules and will also conduct a mini hands-on clinic with the crowd on the concourse.

The 2001 Sun Devil volleyball team began practice last week and are in preparation for the season opener with the annual Phoenix Airport Hilton/Sun Devil Challenge that will feature a nine-match tournament over two days (Aug. 31-Sept. 1) with ASU, Hofstra, Nevada, Santa Clara and South Carolina. The Sun Devils were 18-12 last year and will be looking to make their third consecutive trip to the postseason in 2001.
