Women's Gymnastics Receives High Marks Off the Floor
The University of California Women's Gymnastics program was recognized for its academic performance last week when the 2000-01 National Association of College Gymnastics Coaches/Women Scholastic All-America honors were handed out.
Four Bears were selected Academic All-Americans. Juniors Jarmin Yeh (3.76) and Katreece Stone (3.61), senior Lindsay Baker (3.60) and graduated senior Pari Olver (3.51) were selected for receiving GPA's that exceeded a 3.5 for the academic year.
In addition, Cal was ranked 15th among 63 Division I programs by the NACGC/W, which was determined by the respective teams' average GPA the past school year. The No. 1 spot on the list went to Southern Utah University, which averaged a 3.7244 GPA.
Cal was behind only Washington among Pac-10 schools. The Huskies finished 13th overall, averaging a 3.370 GPA, while Stanford finished behind the Bears at No. 18 with a 3.3 team GPA.
