LOS ANGELES - Eight stations have joined the USC Football Radio Network, supplementing the coverage provided by Los Angeles flagship station KMPC-AM 1540.
The other stations are KPLS-AM 830 in Orange, KFMB-AM 760 in San Diego, KXPS-AM 1010 in Palm Springs, KGEO-AM 1230 in Bakersfield, KCBL-AM 1340 in Fresno, KVBL-AM 1400 in Visalia, KRLV-AM 1340 in Las Vegas, Nev., and KAOI-AM 1110 in Wailuku, Hi. Additionally, KAXX-AM 1020 in Anchorage, Ak., will broadcast the Notre Dame and UCLA games, while WCSN-AM 820 in Chicago, Ill., will do the Notre Dame contest.
These stations will join KMPC-an affiliate of Sporting News Radio, the largest and only live 24-7 sports talk radio network in the United States-which begins the first year of a 3-year contract broadcasting Trojan football games.
The KMPC broadcasts also can be heard globally as a cybercast on www.usctrojans.com.
Pete Arbogast returns as the play-by-play announcer after handling that duty from 1989 to 1994. He'll be joined by former USC All-American quarterback Paul McDonald (analyst) and ex-USC All-American defensive tackle Tim Ryan (sideline). Ryan and former Trojan tailback Petros Papadakis will host a 1-hour pre-game show, while Ryan will work with Arbogast and McDonald on the 1-hour post-game show.
USC opens its 2001 season on Sept. 1 against San Jose State in the Coliseum.
