Jonathon Riley Advances To Finals Of 5,000 Meters at World University Games

Beijing, China - Jonathon Riley finished fifth in the prelims of the 5,000 meters on Thursday (August 30) to advance to the finals at the World University Games.

Riley looked strong in his race, automatically advancing with a time of 14:10.23. The top American in the prelims was Matt Lane who finished second in a time of 13:41.06, good for second place. The 5,000 meter final is slated for Saturday. Riley, earlier in the week, finished ninth in the 1,500 meters at 3:46.37.
