Ducks Blaze Past Arkansas Little Rock, Finish Tourney 4-0
Sept. 1, 2001
ARLINGTON, Texas - A 30-26, 30-17, 30-14 sweep over Arkansas Little Rock at the UT Arlington Invitational was the Oregon volleyball team's fourth-straight win and left the Ducks as the only undefeated team at the tournament.
'I thought this would be our most difficult match, but we did a great job of sustaining our concentration of our system,' Oregon head coach Carl Ferreira said. 'We're 4-0 and that's a positive thing because we're still trying to establish our chemistry.'
Oregon had 49 kills and six team blocks while hitting .380 for the match. The Ducks were led by senior Monique Tobbagi, who had a match-high 17 kills, eight digs and a .464 hitting percentage. Lindsay Murphy and Lindsay Closs added nine and eight kills, respectively.
Oregon's defense stymied Arkansas Little Rock, holding it to a .058 hitting percentage and allowing just 26 kills. Only one team hit better than .100 against the Ducks over the two-day tournament, host school UT Arlington.
The Ducks play at UT Pan American Monday at 5 p.m.
