Oregon Volleyball Perfect On Texas Road Swing

Edinburg, Texas - A day after winning the UT Arlington Invitational, the University of Oregon improved its record to 5-0 with a 30-17, 30-16, 30-15 over UT Pan American in front of 369 fans in Edinburg, Texas. UT Pan American dropped to 1-3 overall.
'We were able to look at film from the tournament and apply things we learned,' Oregon head coach Carl Ferreira said. 'We were just trying to get one match better and any time you can go on the road and get five wins, that's a good thing.'
As a team, Oregon continued to be impressive both offensively and defensively. The Ducks hit .429 (49-10-95) and held the Lady Broncs to a .000 hitting percentage (24-24-91). Senior outside hitter Monique Tobbagi led all players with 14 kills, her fifth consecutive 10+ kill match. Tobbagi had just two errors in 27 attempts to post a .444 hitting percentage. Tobbagi is now hitting .355 on the season.
Junior transfer Stephanie Martin added 11 kills and had zero errors in 18 attempts to lead all players with a .611 hitting percentage. Juniors Lindsay Closs and Amanda Porter added eight and seven kills, respectively. Closs also had two service aces and has had at least one ace in all five matches (14 total).
The Lady Broncs were led by Sandy Darway who had nine kills and five digs. Oregon had eight blocks to UT Pan American's two and outdug the Lady Brons 35-29.
Oregon returns home this week to host the Oregon Classic. Four teams will travel to Eugene for the tournament - Boise State, Eastern Washington, Northridge and New Mexico State - which begins Friday at 9 a.m. The Ducks will play at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
