Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week (9/4/01)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- STANFORD junior forward Marcia Wallis has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Aug. 31-Sept. 4, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Wallis, from Los Gatos, Calif., helped No. 14/15 Stanford (1-0-0) overcome a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat No. 16/18 Florida in Gainesville Sept. 2. Wallis scored the game-winning goal on a 16-yard shot from the right side just 1:15 into sudden-death overtime. She netted the Cardinal's first goal right after halftime, at the 51:04 mark. Stanford recorded an own goal with one minute left in regulation to force overtime.

This is Wallis' third career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and Stanford's 10th Player of the Week honor all-time.
