No. 23 Soccer Blanks New Mexico, 3-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - Behind three second half goals by three different players, the 23rd-ranked Arizona State soccer team (3-1) blanked New Mexico (0-3-1), 3-0 tonight in front of 497 fans at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Arizona State dominated most of the game, outshooting New Mexico 18-4. Kristin Slater posted her second solo shutout of the year, making only one save.
Despite outshooting New Mexico 13-0 in the first half, the Sun Devils were unable to post a score. However, nine minutes into the second half, freshman Andrea Waite tallied her first career goal as a Sun Devil in the 57th minute. From a corner kick, Waite twisted her body and clip the ball with her leg as it went pass the Lobo's goalie. Temryss Lane was credited with an assist on the goal.
Just over two minutes later, Patrice Feulner tallied ASU's second goal from 10-yards out from the top of the left box. Stephanie Peel assisted on the goal by Feulner, her fifth of the year. ASU rounded out the scoring in the 71st minute when All-American Stacey Tullock skirted down the sidelines and buried the ball pass the Lobo's goalie after taking a crisp pass from Feulner.
Up next, Arizona State will travel to Houston, Texas to take part in the College Showcase Tournament where they will face top-ranked North Carolina on Sunday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m.
