Men's Soccer Player of the Week (9/11/01)

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA junior forward Tim Pierce has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 4-10, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Pierce, from Dana Point, Calif., was named Most Valuable Player of the USF Diadora Classic over the weekend, leading the Bruins to a pair of wins and the team title. He tallied two goals on the weekend, including the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Santa Clara Sept. 9. Pierce notched the game's second goal in a 4-0 win over host San Francisco Sept. 7. He has scored a goal in three consecutive matches.
UCLA (2-1-1) is ranked 10th by Soccer America this week and is No. 22 in the NSCAA/adidas poll.
This is the first weekly honor for Pierce and UCLA's fifth Player of the Week honor all-time.
