Men's and Women's Tennis Players in Preseason Polls

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona women's tennis sophomore Debbie Larocque, senior Laresa Marino and men's tennis senior Steven Crapiati and sophomore Carl Hagman earned spots in the ITA preseason rankings released Thursday.
Larocque is No. 85 in the singles poll after posting a 23-16 record last season. Larocque and Marino moved up 38 places from last year's final doubles ranking of 41 to 13 in the preseason vote. The duo wrapped up the 2000-01 campaign with a 12-14 mark as the No. 2 doubles team on the squad.
On the men's side, Capriati and Hagman received spots in both the singles and doubles polls. After an 18-13 record last season as the top singles player on the team, Capriati begins the upcoming year at No. 60. Hagman cracks the polls at No. 94 to begin his sophomore tilt with the Cats. Capriati and Hagman are No. 16 in the country, beginning a year where they are projected as the top doubles team on the squad.
The women's team begins fall play next weekend when it travels to the William and Mary Invitational in Williamsburg, Va., Sept. 21-23.
Capriati and Hagman kick off fall action for the men when they travel to San Diego for the World Team Tennis National Championships, Sept. 28-30.
