Men's Golf Heads to Idaho For Vandal Fall Classic
Sept. 21, 2001
MOSCOW, Idaho - The Cal men's golf team returns to action on Sept. 24-25 at the Vandal Fall Classic in Moscow, Idaho. The Bears placed fourth at their season-opening tournament in North Carolina two weeks ago.
Cal spent more time on the East Coast than originally planned after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks grounded all flights. The Bears returned to the Bay Area two days later.
'Our guys really showed great character with that whole situation,' said Cal head coach Steve Desimone. 'Despite everything else that was happening, we also had to contend with an electrical storm the night before.'
Desimone considered experimenting with his lineup this week as he expects one of the softest fields of the season. Pac-10 rivals Washington and Washington State join Cal in the 19-team field.
However, Cal will stick with the same lineup it used in its season opener.
1. Walter Chun
2. Peter Tomasulo
3. Scott Carlyle
4. Jeff Hood
5. George Serra
Competitors will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday. Both days' action begins at 8 a.m. Pacific.
