Nation's Top Women's Golfers Compete at Fall Preview

The Washington women's golf team will start its season in grand fashion when the Huskies host the NCAA Fall Preview Sept. 24-26 at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. The top 14 teams in the preseason GolfWorld College Coaches' Poll are competing in the tournament. The event is annually contested at the site of the national collegiate championship. Washington will host the NCAA Championships May 21-24 at Washington National.
Tee times for the Fall Preview will begin at 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday and at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The par-72 Washington National course will play at 6,283 yards for the event.
The field for this year's NCAA Fall Preview includes top-ranked Duke, second-ranked Auburn and third-ranked Auburn. Defending Pac-10 Champion Arizona is ranked fourth in the preseason poll while 2001 NCAA Champion Auburn is ranked fifth. A total of 19 of the top-25 teams in the GolfWorld poll are competing at the Fall Preview.
Washington will tee off from the first hole starting at 8:50 a.m. on Monday.
Leading the field of individual competitors is LSU's Meredith Duncan, who won the 2001 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship this summer. Washington will be led at the Fall Preview by two-time All-American Kelli Kamimura, who placed 29th at the 2001 NCAAs. This summer Kamimura has been impressive, winning the Washington State Women's Amateur Championship and reaching the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
