Oregon Golfers 23rd After First Round of NCAA Fall Preview

AUBURN, Wash. - The University of Oregon women's golf team struggled to a 36-over par 324 and was 23rd out of 24 teams after Monday's first round of the NCAA Fall Preview being played at the 6,250-yard, par-72 Washington National Golf Club.

Freshman Jaime Seefried, playing in her first collegiate event, was the Ducks' top golfer Monday, shooting a 7-over 79 to tie for 69th. Jessica Carlyon, another Oregon freshman, and senior Kathy Cho were next at 9-over 81, which was tied for 96th. Three of Oregon's top five golfers for this event are freshmen.

Tennessee led the team competition at 5-over 293. Ohio State was next at 294, while USC had a 298 and Arizona State was at 299.

Play was delayed for several hours Monday morning by a fog. Second round action is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
