Cougar Tennis Travels To Alabama Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Cougars women's tennis team ventures to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Alabama Invitational Friday. Aside from the Cougars, the 12 team invitational will include Alabama, Arkansas State, Auburn, Auburn-Montgomery, Birmingham Southern, Florida State, Houston, Louisiana-Monroe, Mississippi, Mississippi State and Troy State. The tournament runs through Sunday.

HEAD COACH CARI GROCE ON THIS WEEKEND: 'This is going to be a great opportunity for Stacy (McKenna) and Lorena (Arias). This is also a great chance for our freshmen to get comfortable and start taking the steps to be successful.'

LAST WEEK: Washington State is coming off a solid performance in the 10th Annual Cougar Classic. Led by ranked players Erica Perkins and Stacy McKenna, the Cougars won eight of the 12 titles in the tournament. WSU won five singles and three doubles championships.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The Cougars are anchored by Erica Perkins, a senior ranked 24th, and Stacy McKenna, a sophomore ranked 83rd nationally. Combined they form the No. 27 doubles team.

NEXT WEEK: The Cougars will travel to Provo, Utah Oct. 11-13 to play in the BYU Invitational.
