Women's Tennis Blows by Competition in Bulldog Classic

Fresno State - Cal women's tennis swept the competition in their first weekend of competition, which took place at the Bulldog Classic in Fresno, CA.
In singles play, returning All-American sophomore Raquel Kops-Jones, currently ranked 26th in the country, dominated the field, advancing to the final game in a series of straight-set victories. Likewise, her teammate Christina Fusano (38th ranked) also advanced to the finals, where the two played. Kops-Jones defeated her teammate, 6-3, 6-4.
The top-seeded doubles group of Christina Fusano and Nicole Havlicek, ranked 49th in the country, tore through the doubles bracket, defeating Long Beach State's Anastasia Dvornikova and Lindsay Marvel by an 8-3 score in the finals to secure the victory.
Sophomore Nicole Havlicek dominated the consolation bracket, defeating Long Beach State's Marta Gronowicz for the consolation bracket title, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Havlicek, who stumbled early, dropping her first match to Pacific's Suzanne Bertel, 1-6, 3-6, rallied to complete the sweep for Cal.
