Duncan Leads No. 2 UCLA Past LMU, 3-0

Los Angeles - Led by two goals from senior forward Staci Duncan, the No. 2 UCLA women's soccer team downed local rival LMU, 3-0 in the second game of the UCLA Women's Cup on Friday evening at Spaulding Field.
Duncan, who scored her first two goals of the season Friday, put the Bruins ahead 1-0 at the 25:21 mark on a header that caromed off the left post, just beating LMU goalkeeper Elizabeth Skhal. Sarah-Gayle Swanson was credited with the assist.
Duncan scored UCLA's second goal of the match in the 71st minute of play on a shot from the top of the box after receiving a perfect cross from Bruin forward Mary-Frances Monroe. With that assist, Monroe has registered either or a goal or an assist in all eight of UCLA's matches this season.
UCLA scored its third and final goal at the 85:41 mark on a penalty kick from Bruin forward Stephanie Rigamat, who was tripped from behind in the LMU box after beating her defender.
With the victory, UCLA remains undefeated on the season at 8-0, while LMU falls to 3-6. The Bruins outshot the Lions on Friday, 18-3.
Cal Poly and No. 25 Princeton played to a scoreless tie in the opening game of the UCLA Women's Cup earlier in the day.
UCLA returns to action on Sunday to take on Princeton at Drake Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m. In the other game on Sunday, Cal Poly will face LMU at LMU's Sullivan Field also at 1:00 p.m.
