Cal Volleyball Falls to Oregon State, 3-1

BERKELEY, CA - The University of California women's volleyball team (5-6, 1-4) fell to visiting Oregon State (10-4, 4-2), 3-1 (30-22, 26-30, 30-25, 30-28), Saturday evening at Haas Pavilion. Freshman Mia Jerkov, in her first full match for Cal, led the Bears with 15 kills and senior setter/outside hitter Candace McNamee added 12 kills, 27 assists and seven digs.

Jerkov, a standout player from Croatia, played her first match for Cal Friday night after playing for the Croatian National Team for most of the fall. She only played half the match Oct. 5 versus the Ducks, but against the Beavers had three service aces and 12 digs to go along with her team-high 15 kills. Sophomore Ashleigh Turner recorded three service aces and had a team-high 15 digs for the Bears.

Oregon State was led by senior Gina Schmidt's team-high 17 kills and 13 digs.

The Bears will next host No. 7 ranked Arizona, Monday, Oct. 8 beginning at 7 p.m. at Cal's Haas Pavilion.
