Bernard Riley Injured, Sidelined for Season

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern California starting defensive tackle BernardRiley is expected to miss the rest of the season because of torn ligamentsin his right knee.

Riley was hurt during Saturday's 27-24 loss at No. 10 Washington, butfinished the game despite the injury, which was diagnosed Monday.

Riley, a junior, has 26 tackles - five for losses - and an interception infive games this season.

It's uncertain who will replace Riley in the starting lineup against ArizonaState on Saturday. The Trojans hope defensive tackle Ryan Nielsen, whomissed the Washington game with a separated shoulder, is able to returnagainst the Sun Devils.

The Trojans (1-4, 0-3) have lost their last four games - all to teams rankedamong the nation's Top 25 - by a total of 14 points.
