Oct. 10, 2001

Dallas, Tex. - Senior Kevin Stadler shot a career-low 206 to lead the No. 12 USC men's golf team to a second place finish at the Red River Classic held at the Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Tex., on Sept. 8-9 (Mon.-Tues.).

Stadler fired two rounds of 69, then followed with a final round 68 to finish 10 under par.

USC shot a 20-under-par 844 (including a tourney-low 274 final round) to finish 10 strokes behind tourney champ Texas. TCU was third (845), followed by Oklahoma State (846) and Ohio State (847).

Stadler tied with Martin Flores of Oklahoma for second behind individual medalist Jason Hartwick of Texas (201). Anders Hultman of Oklahoma State and Franklin Hatchett of SMU tied for fourth (207).

Also for USC, freshman Nico Bollini tied for 15th (213), junior David Oh tied for 27th (215), junior Chris Botsford tied for 35th (216) and freshman Ben Hayes tied for 42nd (217). Former Trojan Hunter Mahan, who transferred to Oklahoma State this past summer, was disqualified in the first round.

USC's tourney-low final round was made possible by Stadler's 68, Bollini's 72, Oh's 69, Botsford's 70 and Hayes' 67.

The Trojans are next in action at the Golf World Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C., on Nov. 9-11.
