UCLA's Walker, Bradley Advance at Riviera

Pacific Palisades, Calif. - Fifth-seeded Sara Walker and freshman Megan Bradley each won their first round singles matches Thursday at the Riviera Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Walker defeated Duke's Julie DeRoo, 6-1, 6-3 and will take on Janet Bergman of Wake Forest in Friday's second round.

Bradley had a more difficult time in her first-round match, defeating Raquel Kops-Jones of Cal, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. She will take on top-seeded Bea Bielik of Wake Forest in the next round.

In doubles action, UCLA's third-seeded team of Lauren Fisher and Petya Marinova was upset by North Carolina's Kendall Cline/Aniela Mojzis, 8-4.

Play continues Friday and concludes with the singles and doubles championships on Sunday.
