Oct. 16, 2001
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA senior forward Stephanie Rigamat has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 8-15, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Rigamat, from La Crescenta, Calif., tallied five points on the weekend - notching two goals and an assist - as the Bruins defeated Arizona and Arizona State to kick off Pac-10 play. On Oct. 14, Rigamat scored the game-winner in UCLA's dramatic, 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Sun Devils. She also added an assist on the tying goal of that match, helping the Bruins maintain their perfect 11-0-0 record. Against the Wildcats on Oct. 12, Rigamat scored UCLA's second goal in a 2-0 shutout win.
UCLA (11-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 Pac-10), ranked No. 2 in this week's NSCAA/adidas and Soccer America polls, plays at No. 3 Santa Clara Thursday night before hosting USC Sunday afternoon.
This is Rigamat's second career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and UCLA's seventh women's soccer Player of the Week honor all-time.
