COACH RISE LAKOWSKE ON THE TEAM: 'Ashlei is coming off a 10th-place finish at the Shanico, and Stacie played well, too. We've had another week's worth of practice, so we're a little more prepared now.
'This is a great course. I'm familiar with it, and it favors Ashlei's, Stacie's and Laura's games, whereas the Kelly and Alex hit more of a fade, so I'm not sure how it will affect them. Overall, it favors our game though, and it will be to our advantage to play on this course.
'This is where we qualified for Nationals in 1998, and this may be our regional site this year - we're hoping to qualify for regionals here.
'We're not even half way through the season, so they're still sharpening their games.'
THE COACHES: Ris Lakowske is in her 12th season at Oregon State, and is the most successful women's golf coach in school history. Lakowske has taken the team to eight consecutive NCAA West Regional appearances, and was honored as the 1998 Far West District Coach of the Year. Lakowske is a former OSU student-athlete (1973-77).
Angie Cates joined the OSU staff as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs. Cates comes to OSU after playing professionally since 2000 on the Futures Tour and the Ladies Challenge Tour.
