No. 4 Washington Downs No. 20 UCLA, 3-1, In Men's Soccer

Seattle, Wash. - The 20th-ranked UCLA men's soccer team dropped its first Pac-10 Conference game of the season, falling to fourth-ranked Washington, 3-1, in Seattle.
The Huskies struck early, scoring a goal in the ninth minute off a Ben Somoza free kick. Washington held that lead until UCLA equalized in the 68th minute. Forward Tim Pierce received a pass from Chadd Davis and curved an 18-yard shot into the upper right corner for his second goal in as many games.
However, Washington regained the lead in the 73rd minute off a Greg Foisie header and then scored an insurance goal in the 85th minute when Jake Sagare found the back of the net on a 12-yard shot off a deflected shot by Trevor Frobose.
UCLA goalkeeper Zach Wells made four saves in 90 minutes of play, while Washington keeper Chad Olsen made six saves. UCLA totaled 18 shots to Washington's 17.
UCLA's record drops to 6-5-2, 2-1-0 in the Pac-10. Washington improves to 10-1, 2-0-0 in the Pac-10. The Bruins next face Oregon State on Sunday, Oct. 21 at noon in Corvallis.
