Women's Golfers Finish Fifth At Stanford

The UCLA women's golf team finished fifth at the Stanford Pepsi Invitational, hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course.
On Sunday, the Bruins posted a team score of 287, one-under par, for a 54-hole total of 875. They beat Arizona State by 11 shots and finished one shot out of fourth behind Washington.
Tulsa won the tournament with a team score of 855, nine-under par. USC finished in a tie for second place with Vanderbilt at 872, eight-over par.
The Bruins' final round score of 287 was their best team score under third-year coach Carrie Leary. Senior Alicia Um led the charge with a career best score of 69, three-under par, and finished in a tie for 11th place. Sophomore Gina Umeck recorded a one-under par round of 71, which was her first collegiate round below par. She tied for ninth place, a season best. Sophomore Melissa Martin tied for 21st at 221 after a final round 75, and junior Vivan Phosomran tied for 24th at 222 after posting an even par score of 72. Johanna Andersson tied for 44th at 228 and sophomore Saki Uechi, playing as an individual, tied for 38th at 226.
