Women's Basketball Players to Speak to Over 300 Children Friday at Wood Elementary School

Oct. 25, 2001

TEMPE, Ariz. - Four Arizona State women's basketball players will participate in two assemblies Friday, Oct. 26 for children at Wood Elementary School.

Seniors Leah Combs and Cian Carvalho and sophomores Jen Albert and Betsy Boardman will speak to children in kindergarten through fifth grades about making positive life choices, including staying in school, saying no to drugs and showing good sportsmanship.

The assemblies are to reward the students at Wood Elementary School for good attendance and to kick off 'Red Ribbon Week,' an event which encourages kids to stay away from drugs and alcohol.

The appearance is part of the Sun Devil T.A.L.E.S. (Talk about Life Experiences through Sports) program which provides opportunities for Arizona State's student-athletes to engage in service to their campus and surrounding communities.
