Oct. 27, 2001

Stanford, Calif.-- Washington State tennis player Stacy McKenna won both of her matches Saturday and advanced to the quarterfinals at the Omni Hotels Western Regional Tennis Championships hosted by Stanford University.

McKenna, a No. 9 seed, advanced by beating Santa Clara's Christine Limbers, 6-1, 6-3, in the third round. McKenna, a sophomore, followed that performance with a solid fourth round upset victory over third-seeded Claire Carter of Washington, 7-6, 6-3. The win propelled McKenna, ranked No. 83 in the nation, into Sunday's quarterfinal, where she will face sixth-seeded Chloe Carlotte of Fresno State.

Fourth-seeded Carla Arguelles and Raquel Kops-Jones of California beat the fifth-seeded Cougar duo of McKenna and Perkins in the fourth round, 9-8.
