Notes on ASU Volleyball:
Arizona State enters this weekend's rivalry with Arizona having lost nine of its last 10 Pac-10 matches... the Devils will be looking to end a four-match losing streak to the nationally ranked Wildcats... of ASU's remaining seven matches in the season, they will be facing three top 10 teams... so far in 2001, the Sun Devils are 0-7 vs. ranked teams... senior outside hitter Jami Coughlin (Glendale, Ariz.) continues to put up impressive numbers in her final campaign in the Maroon and Gold... in the three matches last week, Coughlin averaged 3.91 kpg and 3.45 dpg... for the season, Coughlin leads the Devils in four major statistical categories, including points per game (4.43), digs per game (3.65), service aces per game (0.38) and kills per game (3.79)... Coughlin moved up in the record books last week as well... with 1,284 career kills, she is now seventh in school history, just 12 kills short of sixth place (Lisa Stuck, 1980-83)... playing her 100th career match vs. UCLA, Coughlin moved into second place in ASU history in career digs... she is currently the active Pac-10 leader with 1,401 (10th best in Pac-10 history)... Coughlin has tallied 13 double-doubles in 2001 and 55 in her career... sophomore outside hitter Kim Mehlhorn has recorded eight straight matches with 10 or more kills... during that stretch of eight matches, she is averaging 3.79 kpg... Mehlhorn is second on the team with nine double-doubles... sophomore middle blocker Jodi Smith (St. Johns, Ariz.) set a career high with 6.0 total blocks vs. USC (10/25)... Smith leads ASU this year with 0.90 blocks per game after averaging 1.27 bpg in the three matches last week... junior transfer Crystal Bluth (Las Cruces, N.M.) recorded her most digs as a Sun Devil, tallying eight (8) digs vs. Northern Arizona... sophomore Courtney Blocher (Scottsdale, Ariz.) recorded a career-high 13 kills vs. Northern Arizona and with 20 digs tallied her first career double-double... sophomore setter Cheryl Anglin (Queen Creek, Ariz.) set a season high with 18 digs vs. NAU... Anglin now has 2,251 career assists, moving into sixth place in the ASU career record books... junior middle blocker Julia Leddy (Mesa, Ariz.) led ASU with 12 kills and hit .455 vs. USC (10/25)... Leddy continues to lead the Devils with a .365 attack percentage.

Pac-10 Player of the Week Nomination:

Jami Coughlin (OH, Sr., Glendale, Ariz.): Coughlin put together another solid week on the court for the Devils averaging 3.91 kpg and 3.45 dpg in ASU's three matches last week... she moved into seventh place in career kills (1,284) and second place in career digs (1,401) in ASU history... playing in her 100th and 101st career matches over the weekend, Coughlin is now 10th in Pac-10 history in career digs... vs. NAU (10/23) Coughlin recorded her fourth 20-kill match of the year and the 11th of her career... she fell just one dig short of earning a double-double in each of her three matches... she also tied a career high with five service aces vs. NAU.
