Kris Richard Named Pac-10 Football Defensive Player Of Week

Senior cornerback Kris Richard was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week.
He returned an interception 58 yards for the game-winning touchdown in USC's 41-34 win at Arizona. His winning score came with 1:50 remaining in the game. Richard also had five solo tackles, including one quarterback sack (-10), forced a fumble and had twopass deflections. The USC defense intercepted four Arizona passes, returning two of the for touchdowns, and posted six quarterback sacks (-35).
Richard was the first Trojan this season to win Pac-10 Player of the Week honors.
He was joined this week by fellow Pac-10 Player of the Week honorees Onterrio Smith (offense), an Oregon tailback who rushed 26 times for a school-record 285 yards (11.0 average) and three touchdowns (including a fourth quarter 73-yarder which proved to be thewinning score in the Ducks' 24-17 win at Washington State), and placekicker John Anderson (special teams), who kicked a game-winning 30-yard field goal as time expired in Washington's 33-31 win at Arizona State.
