SCHEDULE: The Beavers travel to the big island of Hawaii for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Oct. 30-31. The teams play 36 holes Tuesday and finish with 18 Wednesday at the Kapolei Golf Course.
Given the time difference in Hawaii, results for Tuesday's round likely will not be posted until Wednesday.
THE FIELD: The 19-team field includes Oregon State, Hawaii, Long Beach State, UNLV, San Jose State, Oregon, Denver, Idaho, BYU, San Francisco, Southern Illinois, Colorado, California, Baylor, UC-Riverside, New Mexico, Central Florida, San Diego State, and Arizona.
THE LINEUP: Laura Skinner (So., Boise, Idaho) Shot a career-low 71 at the OSU/Shanico to become the sixth player in OSU history to post that score, which is the third-lowest at OSU... tied for 29th at the Shanico with a 229... tied for 24th at Stanford, which was a career-best, shooting 222 - also a career-low... 76.5 average is good for third on the team.
Ashlei Pendleton (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) Ashlei carded a 72 in the opening round of the OSU Shanico... tied for 10th at the Shanico with a 223... fired a 73 in the final round of the rain-shortened Fall Preview, finishing tied for 49th... tied for 44th at Stanford with a 228, including a 73... 75.5 average leads team... low round of 72 came at the Shanico.
Stacie Ferguson (Jr., Tucson, Ariz.) Shot 227 to tie for 21st at OSU Shanico... tied for 44th at Stanford with a 228, including final-round 73... 76.3 average is second on the squad... low round of 73 (twice).
Alex Lucio (Fr., Bogota, Colombia) Alexandra began her OSU career at the NCAA Fall Preview with a 76 to lead the Beavs in the opening round before having to withdraw due to the flu... tied for 57th at the Shanico with a 237... tied for 73rd at Stanford with a 239... averages 78.8 strokes.
Kelly Kerkvliet (Fr., Corvallis, Ore.) Kelly opened her career at OSU at the Preview, shooting 173 while playing as an individual... shot 250 at the OSU Shanico to tie for 73rd while playing as an individual... 84.6 average... shot a low of 76 at the Shanico.
LAST ACTION: The Beavers finished 12th at the Stanford Intercollegiate by shooting a 917. Laura Skinner led the way for the Beavs with a 6-over 222, as she continues to improve her game in her sophomore season. Ashlei Pendleton and Stacie Ferguson each tied for 44th with 228s.
OSU IN THE RANKINGS: The Beavers are ranked 47th in the most recent Golfweek poll.
THE COACHES: Risï¿½ Lakowske is in her 12th season at Oregon State, and is the most successful women's golf coach in school history. Lakowske has taken the team to eight consecutive NCAA West Regional appearances, and was honored as the 1998 Far West District Coach of the Year. Lakowske is a former OSU student-athlete (1973-77).
Angie Cates joined the OSU staff as the assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs. Cates comes to OSU after playing professionally since 2000 on the Futures Tour and the Ladies Challenge Tour. The 1998 Washington State graduate worked three years as an associate producer for The Golf Channel before playing professionally. Cates was an Academic All-American at WSU, as well as an All-Pac-10 selection her senior year.
